Gemini Full Moon

My brain has been on steroids all week as the Gemini Super Full Moon looms on the horizon.  Literally, it didn’t want to stop thinking and the next phase moved in: sharing my thoughts through communication.  It’s a theme for this Full Moon, which occurs Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 7:47 a.m. PST. The Full Moon is a culmination of energy released at the New Moon.  The Moon, our emotional antennae, is in high gear during the Full Moon.  Gemini, a mutable mental air sign ruled by the planet Mercury is known for being witty and communicative: Emotionally themed topics may be on the frontline.  Acknowledge how you communicate with others, how you are interacting with them, as well as the world around you.  It is part of our belief system. If you made New Moon intentions are they flowering profusely, or have you hit any roadblocks with them?  If so, Mercury may present you with solutions such as overhearing someone making a comment that is “off the wall”, a news article that hits on point, or a voice in your head as you contemplate a resolution.  “When dealing with people remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion.”  Dale Carnegie

Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, turns retrograde hours before this Full Moon in the last degree of another mutual sign, Sagittarius.  Mutual signs indicate the end of seasons: Gemini (Spring), Virgo (Summer), Sagittarius (Fall), and Pisces (Winter).  Thus, they are considered adaptable/flexible.  It retrogrades at 29 Degrees Sagittarius, the final degree before moving into the winter sign of Capricorn, moving back to retrace its tracks in Sagittarius.  Something is incomplete.  Mercury will conjunct Saturn, this time retrograde, on December 6th.  Its last conjunction, while direct, was on November 27th.  What themes were playing out in your life around Thanksgiving.  Is there an unresolved issue stemming from that timeframe that may need some flexibility or adaptability on your part?  Saturn demands that we focus on the present and face our fear: Be honest with yourself and meet the challenge head-on.  “There are no limits.  There are only plateaus and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”  Bruce Lee

A major aspect occurring during this Full Moon is a T-Square.  This involves the Moon opposing the Sun (i.e., The Full Moon) squaring Neptune.  A square is a challenging aspect consisting of challenges, stress and internal conflict.  Neptune is an outer planet that represents themes of inspiration, intuition, dreams, and vision, as well as deception, disillusion, confusion, and escapism.  As we try to navigate the communication themes of this Full Moon to bring us into awareness and confront our personal belief structure, it may be like trying to drive on a foggy night:  We can get disorientated, get distracted, or lose our way.  Mercury/Saturn is our compass to find the way out through a patient, conscious mind that is disciplined in communicating in an organized fashion.  Quiet reflective time, such as meditation, is a great way to indulge yourself if you find yourself amiss in the fog.  If you don’t meditate, do whatever you consider as complete and utter surrendering to downtime: a long overdue nap, quiet time alone to sort through your thoughts and feelings, enjoy a fine glass of wine or treasured book.  “Do not dwell in the past; Do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”  Buddha

The biggest take away from this mutual Full Moon is to think about “your” story and remember that nothing stays the same: life…your story… is evolving.  Like the seasons we change, again and again.  The seed is planted, sprouts, buds, flowers, bears fruit, is harvested, composted and the cycle begins anew.  The Gemini Full Moon is the flowering stage for communication. What fruit will it bear for you?  “This is my life…my story…my book.  I will no longer let anyone else write it; nor will I apologize for the edits I make.”  Steve Marboli

To connect more fully with Mercury:  This is a great time to take advantage of a Gemini Full Moon and do what Gemini loves to do:  Talk!  Become an extrovert and chat with people…anyone…where does the conversation lead?

For the over-active mind, essential oils such as clary sage and lavender are calming, or drink chamomile or calendula tea.  If you have trouble falling asleep because of over-thinking, valerian is a calming sleep aid.
