My sun sign is Taurus, and to experience the Taurus Full Moon energy for the past couple of weeks has been, to say the least, a bit emotionally overwhelming. The Moon precisely aligned with my Sun, in the house relating to children: the energies were working on me to let go of the heartache of my daughter’s passing last October, and move forward. As I grabble with that issue, the New Moon in Scorpio now sits in opposition to my Sun, and her birthday would have been tomorrow. I can’t ignore the deep, classic Scorpio related themes of death, dying, rebirth, and regeneration. “Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.” Hugh Prather
A New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon conjunct; thus, reside in the same astrological sign. This New Moon happens on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 3:42 a.m. PST. She is in her darkest phase and considered a powerful time for creativity, or setting new intentions. A key phrase for Scorpio is “I desire.” As a fixed water sign those desires, and emotions, run deep and passionate. As I write this, I am feeling the intense deep emotions of Scorpio. “Keep your face always toward the Sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you.” Walt Whitman
The Scorpio Sun’s illumination combined with the receptive energies of the Moon penetrate into the very core of any emotional stagnation you have not been addressing. As painful as it may be discovering them, this is a favorable time to allow Scorpio energies to do what they do best: heal and regenerate. Give yourself permission to probe deep beneath the surface and discover the passionate emotions that need healing. Open your heart, allow the healing waters to enter, and give thanks and gratitude for the transformation that follows. “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the Light.” Aristotle Onassis
Support is given from Venus, also in Scorpio, as she begins her descent from the morning sky on her way deep into the heart of the Sun. During this timeframe, the Goddess Myth of “The Descent of Inanna” comes alive: Encountering your deepest fears, surrendering to them, allowing yourself to let go of them, and being reborn into a powerful new way of being. Very Scorpionic! Note: Venus leaves the morning sky next week (November 28th). She will conjunct the Sun in January 2018 and rise again (reborn) as an Evening Star on February 19, 2018. “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson
For the New Moon, you may want to light a red candle to aid in courage and dispelling intense emotions. If you have a diffuser, a couple drops each of Jasmine and Chamomile Essential Oils can be very calming for the Traditional Mars or Modern Pluto Planetary ruler for Scorpio.
