This is a big month astrologically. The New Moon of May 15, 2018, @ 4:48 a.m. PDT at 24° Taurus 36′ ushers in the ingress of chaotic Uranus into stable Taurus later that evening at 8:16 p.m. PDT. Assertive Mars squares unpredictable Uranus exact as he makes his entrance into progressive Aquarius a few hours later at 12:04 a.m. PDT on May 16, 2018. The winds of change are upon us, and you will plainly see or feel the New Moon gestation this month. At the New Moon, the Sun and Moon rise and set together. It is a time of new beginnings, setting new intentions, planting seeds for growth. This New Moon, in the fixed sign of dependable Taurus, grounds us as the wild, unstable, volatile energies of Mars and Uranus swirl around us as they ingress new signs while receiving the challenging square aspect. If you have felt like you are on the Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, you are not alone. Expect many unscheduled twists and turns, hairpin corners, and high ups and downs to continue ~ only you’re not in Fantasyland! “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” ~ Deepak Chopra
A Taurus New Moon grounds us firmly into Mother Earth. The lazy Taurus bull starts to smell the flowers in the meadow. We feel the influence of sensual Venus, its ruler, as we move through our day enjoying the more pleasurable things in life, appreciating the beauty the world offers, and we delight in the thought of delicious cuisines. Enjoyment of physical sensations becomes paramount. We have a lovely supporting aspect from the Mars/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. Passionate Mars supports our desires and transformative Pluto our unconscious mind. Let them guide you into navigating the vast terrain of physically enjoying sociable Venus. This may also involve how you relate to others and how you express your affection: A few keywords are connectedness, desire, intimacy, love, sensuality, self-worth, and harmony. “It’s all about finding the calm in the chaos.” ~ Donna Karan
All this lovely Venus energy comes with an unexpectant twist. With individualist Uranus, the Awakener, entering enduring Taurus he emerges from 7 years in the cardinal fire sign of active and dynamic Aries to the patient, practical earth sign of Taurus. The lightning bolt hits the mountain. What force will it take to change that which seems immovable? Revolutionary Uranus needs to makes changes so that you can express your own uniqueness. He liberates you from where you have comfortably fallen into a rut. He creates change, causes disruption, and it is not necessarily done in an easy peasy fashion. While restless Uranus is in Taurus expect him to dislodge you from where you have grown “too comfortable” so as not to allow for growth, especially in any Venus-ruled Taurus areas of life. “Chaos is a friend of mine.” ~ Bob Dylan
I’m putting away all sharp tools for the next week except for my handy dandy shovel that will be utilized in the last ditch planting efforts for the spring season. Now that the Taurus New Moon is here the next couple of weeks will require completion of New Moon gardening tasks. While the last of the spring vegetables will be planted, there are several items on the agenda that require attention. The rebuilding of the chicken and duck yards need to be completed, the entire water system replaced in both the herbal and vegetable gardens, finish laying mulch, and all the related matters that had not yet been finished, but must be before the warmer days set in. Ahaaaa…then the preparation for fire season can be finished! Natally I’m a Taurus. Usually this time of year I have completed everything and resting, but not this year. This isn’t like any other year. The chaos from a late torrential March storm resulted in weeks of repair work for heavy damage in the yard and gardens. The energy is different. First, there was a major setback, then a holding pattern, and now it’s electrifying with a pushing forward momentum. I physically feel that eccentric Uranus/vigorous Mars energy buzzing through my body. As I plow thru the remainder of May, busy as a bee, may the spring days bring you peace and contentment in a very Venusian way. “Never could I breathe love if I did not first learn to inhale a little bit of chaos.” ~ Christopher Poindexter
