The first full moon of spring in Venus-ruled Libra takes place on March 31, 2018, at 5:36 a.m. PDT at 10°44′. The Pisces New Moon was a time of new beginnings, the Libra Full Moon is a time for endings: To finish up or let something die. She has made her switch from waxing (growing in light) to waning (diminishing in light). But before she begins her descent her job is to put a spotlight on a particular area of life and bring illumination. The Sun, ruled by Mars and exalted in cardinal fiery Aries, inspires us to be independent, develop our self-awareness, and be assertive based on desire. The cardinal air Libra Moon, ruled by Venus, needs to relate to others and create harmony and balance. It’s about partnering with others, cooperation, social interaction, communicating and creating with others, but above all else, the Libra scales seeks balance, and the Moon represents emotions. Balancing emotions may prove tricky during this lunation: Venus, the lover, wants peace and harmony while Mars, the warrior, represents its opposite. “Balance is not something you find. It’s something you create.” ~ Jana Kingsford
The Sun and Moon are always opposite at a full moon, the Sun giving the light the moon reflects. Also opposing the Libra Moon is Mercury in Aries, retrograde until April 15th and conjunct the Sun within 2°. Within 8°30′ Mercury is considered “combust” the Sun meaning it is burning up. Thus, not only are Mercury’s energies challenged by the retrograde, he is burnt by the Sun: invisible. In crisis mode, weak and weary he wanders through Aries warrior territory: Debilitated. His only safe haven is a trine to the Leo North Node, the future. Any Mercury related matters, but specifically communication, in partnerships with others may require change. Look to your past: What did and did not work for you in your interactions with others? As you remember past mistakes and victories, trust your heart (Leo North Node) to guide you into balancing that which will be right for the future. “Do it trembling if you must, but do it.” ~Emmet Fox
Expect restraint with Mars, the spirited ruler of Aries, conjunct authoritarian Saturn in responsible Capricorn squaring this social, extroverted Moon. Usually a party thrown during a Libra Moon is a great fun social event; however, this transit could drag you down given Capricorn’s need to slow things down and be serious. Slow being the operative word as the taskmaster Saturn is in his domicile in Capricorn. Not the best time for a party their conjunction gives much strength for activities that require you to use your energy to get things done. Initiate resolving issues relating to matters such as security, obligations, and goals. Their square to the peace-loving Libra Moon challenges you in making any necessary changes. Dominating Pluto, also in Capricorn, demands nothing less than complete surrender to the process. “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” ~ Albert Einstein
Sensuous Venus, the Moon’s ruler, moved into Taurus the day before this lunation returning to her other domicile. Venus co-rules the signs of Taurus and Libra; however, while Libra is a cardinal air sign which expresses the social attributes of Venus, Taurus is a fixed earth sign which is more self-orientated. Venus trines the Capricorn energies giving us the capacity to attract what is loved and valued when we slow down and take the time to smell the flowers, preferably ones gifted by an admirer. Venus is about pleasure…enjoyment…love…harmony. Remember that during the high-wire balancing act. “Our success has really been based on partnerships from the very beginning.” ~ Bill Gates
